Nyskick. Two volumes. Leather bound with decorated slipcases. Front board: exquisite dual tone morocco binding: green and red with gilded title and decoration. Spine: Gilded title. Four raised bands. Upper cut gilded. End-papers and the paste-downs in the same design as the decoration of the slipcases. Inside of the boards same two tone binding, as the front boards, with gilt dentelle framing the red leather. Lithographed front cover bound with the books. Frontispice. Profusely illustrated. Volume 1 : Lithographed wrapper. Heliogravure frontispiece of Degas. Profusely illustrated in black / white and colour, and with tipped-in plates. (4) + 157 (15) pages. Volume 2: Lithographed wrapper. Frontispice. Profusely illustrated in black / white and colour, and with tipped-in plates. An "Lithographie orginale" Dans Les Coulisses (an original Degas lithograph) accompanies the book, and is found between pages 40-41. (18) +75 + (25) pages. Two exlibris found in this volume: one on the first blank page and the second on the fourth blank page after "Table Des Matiéres". Two small stains on the spine of the second volume.
